classic children’s books

Someone on Twitter today linked to this list from iVillage, and it was too good not to share.  The article is titled “Classic Books Every Kid Should Read,” but I think a better title would be “Classic Kids’ Books Everyone Should Read.”

That being said, Ican’t claim to have read every book on the list.  There are some — Five Children and It and The Golden Name Day, among others — that I’ve never even heard of, though I plan to look into them now.  But the inclusion of my absolute favorite children’s book, Ballet Shoes, and the excellent All-of-a-Kind Family makes me trust the judgement of the list maker(s).  And I think those two, along with others on this list, are certainly worthy of readers of any age.
