this week

Recently finished: Inkheart, by Cornelia Funke.  This has been on my list for awhile, and the audio version was great.  The author brings us into a world of books where characters literally come to life.

In progress: Karen Joy Fowler’s Wit’s End.  Another story revolving around a world of books – this one taking place in the home of a best-selling mystery writer.  It took me a little while to get into it, but it has begun to charm me.  I’ve also been listening on and off to The Children’s Book.  I haven’t entirely decided how I feel about this.  The 19th century setting is a beautiful one to slip into, and the way Byatt uses language is nothing less than captivating, but there are a lot of characters, some of whom are hard to keep track of, and it’s been easy to lose focus on the story and then fin myself wondering just who this person is.

About to start: Nothing specific on the horizon.  Suggestions?
